Pre-treatment- Phase One:

This stage is vital in allowing the powder coating to perform to its full potential.

All substrates are chemically pre treated in order to promote good adhesion

and protect against corrosion.

All our aluminium goes through an 8-stage pre-treatment which is chromate

converted.

All our steel products go through 8-stage pre-treatments which includes either

zinc phosphate or iron phosphate.

Coating- phase two:

After pre-treatment, the metal is hung up in spray booths for coating. The

powder is applied using an electrostatic spray gun. The guns apply a charge to

the powder as it is sprayed which allows the powder to stick to the metal.

Curing Ovens- Phase three:

The material is then moved down the production line to the ovens where it will

be heated to temperatures in excess of 160deg to bake and create the finish.

After this process the material is then take down from the production line,

inspected for any defects. If the product meets our approval, it will then be

packed and ready for dispatch.

Shotblasting is a cleaning process suitable for steel to remove any grease, dust, rust or existing coatings. It creates a suitable clean, smooth surface which then

allows primer and topcoats to be applied. SA2.5 – 3
